CHAATRIK Architecture was asked to design this new two-story addition to an existing residence in one of Cincinnati's most coveted neighborhoods of Indian Hill. After reviewing the clients needs and analyzing the dramatic conditions of the site, we developed a unique structure that would celebrate the existing house and reveal an entirely new part of their surroundings.

The new addition nestles itself elegantly into the forest, and warranted a complete refresh to the entire exterior of the existing residence. With a lower level private office and main level sitting room, the house has taken on a completely new character. The cedar siding was carefully restored and then painted a striking blue complementing the vibrancy of its forest surroundings.
Large windows provide an unobstructed view into nature allowing the user to be a quiet observer to the vibrant wildlife. The steep slope of the roof for snow also provides an opportunity for added drama with a spacious interior and views towards the sky and treetops.
Custom finishes and detailing were carefully executed to provide a cozy interior that would highlight the play of light throughout the day. A featured fireplace, mantel and wood shelving added the finishing touches to the main living space with a beautiful accent of a polished chrome finished 'Haiku' ceiling fan. March 2021 Update: This project has just been entered into the 2021 Cincinnati Residential Architect Design Awards. Fingers crossed!
